The Princeton French Film Festival will kick off on March 28 with the U.S. premiere of Monsieur Aznavour, a film that explores the life and music of the iconic French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour. The festival runs through April 25 in Princeton, New Jersey. The film follows Aznavour's journey from overcoming early struggles to achieving international fame. Produced by Jean-Rachid Kallouche, the film includes exclusive material provided by Katy Aznavour, his widow.
Festival founder Yassine Ait Ali shared his admiration for Aznavour's legacy, noting how his heartfelt lyrics and songs resonated with generations, especially in places like New York City. Ait Ali is excited to bring this film to the festival's opening night, calling it a perfect way to honor Aznavour’s impact on music and culture in North America and beyond.
The festival's third edition will feature 20 films, along with Q&As and masterclasses. Taking place across multiple venues in Princeton, including Princeton University, Princeton Public Library, Princeton Garden Theater, and the Arts Council of Princeton, all screenings will be in their original languages with English subtitles.
All screenings are free and open to the public, and all venues are wheelchair accessible. The Monsieur Aznavour premiere will be held on Friday, March 28 at 7 p.m. at Princeton University, followed by a Q&A and reception.
