Sardarabad Bookstore was established in 1984, by a group of young Armenians from the San Fernando Valley to satisfy the growing need of Armenian literature books for kids and adults.
They started a mobile bookstore near churches which opened only on Sundays during and after the church mass. After the increase of new Armenian immigrants to Los Angeles, the need for an Armenian bookstore grew even more and Sardarabad Bookstore opened its doors 8 hours a day Monday through Saturday. Since then Sardarabad has been open to everybody who is interested in Armenian culture and literature. Along with the community, Sardarabad grew more and more carrying different varieties of books, trinkets, art and everything Armenian.
